Putting Glass Walls on New York Slaughterhouses So We Can See Behind Closed Doors from FAUN Friends Of Animals United
Meat and Fisheries Process Lab

Address: SUNY Cobleskill Meat Processing, Cobleskill, NY 12043
Establishment No.: m4266

USDA Inspection Reports: 7 Dec 2010

Code: 06D01
Violation: 416.2(a)

Citation: On this date at approximately 0830, while performing an unscheduled 06D01 procedure, the following non- compliance was observed: The storage closet adjacent to the manager's office and the overhead storage space accessed through the manager's office contain an accumulation of various items used by the establishment in the educational process (books, binders, small appliances, etc.) which prevents inspection to insure sanitary conditions and absence of rodent activity. Additionally, the overhead space is littered with construction debris. At the time of inspection, no evidence suggesting harborage of or damage by rodents or pests was observed. No product, edible supplies or packaging materials are stored in these areas, therefore, there was no adulteration or contamination. The establishment has in place an ongoing monthly pest management program. An establishment must be maintained so as not to interfere with inspection by FSIS program employees. I notified Mr. verbally and with this written notice. This document serves as written notification that failure to comply with regulatory requirements could result in additional regulatory or administrative action.

416.2(a) Grounds and pest control. The grounds about an establishment must be maintained to prevent conditions that could lead to insanitary conditions, adulteration of product, or interfere with inspection by FSIS program employees. Establishments must have in place a pest management program to prevent the harborage and breeding of pests on the grounds and within establishment facilities. Pest control substances used must be safe and effective under the conditions of use and not be applied or stored in a manner that will result in the adulteration of product or the creation of insanitary conditions.
